A collection of the books I have read and written.

Dead Lawyers Tell No Tales

Dead Lawyers Tell No Tales - Randy Singer My wife and I both read this Randy Singer legal thriller. She thought there were too many subplots and characters to keep track of, but I disagree. This was a masterfully told tale which does use a lot of characters and subplots, but brings them together in a thrilling and dramatic scene near the end. Just when you think you've been wrapped around the last twist, there seems to be one more. This was a delightful read, but forces you to keep your head in the game to determine which lawyers will be dead and which still have tales to tell at the end of the story.

Storm Surge

Storm Surge - Rene Gutteridge As a meteorologist, the storm content of the plot first enticed me. But the rest of the story, a complex plot, well-developed main characters,as well as the mystery and romance, were what kept me reading. If you like crime dramas with mystery and romance, this is one you'll want to read. There were only a couple of weather-related events that stretched believability a bit. But I shouldn't criticize as I take weather elements to their extremes in my stories.

Stolen Child: Do You Know Who You Are?

Stolen Child: Do You Know Who You Are? - Kimberly Rae I enjoyed this story as much, or more, than Stolen Woman. Through Asha's eyes you will see another culture very foreign to the west, where truth is often confused, but people's spiritual and emotional needs are the same as yours and mine.

Nick of Time (Bug Man Series #6)

Nick of Time (Bug Man Series #6) - Tim Downs If you like quirky characters, Nick Polchak beats anyone I've ever met in a book. This is a hilarious read, full of witty dialogue from the Bugman, even better than books 1 - 5. But you'll also find mystery, suspense, a little romance and--
I shouldn't say more as the plot has some hairpin turns, and I want you to crash like I did when I took them too fast. ☺

Stolen Woman (Stolen Series)

Stolen Woman (Stolen Series) - Kimberly Rae This was a great story and timely because it's subject, human trafficking, is pandemic. If you enjoy romantic suspense and likeable characters with strong Christian faith, you will want to read Stolen Woman. The point-of-view changes aren't always delimited well, but for a story this good and this moving, I am more than willing to overlook that.

Key Witness

Key Witness - Christy Barritt A great blend of mystery, suspense, and romance.

What common ground can Ellie Philips, manager of her father's senatorial campaign, find with Mark Denton, a former Navy Seal assigned to protect Ellie when threats are made after she witnesses a bank robbery? Burned by a former fiancé, Ellie sees Mark as a risk taker, a man she could perhaps trust with her safety, if that was his job, but never with her heart. As a series of people die, each one closer to Ellie and each death leaving insufficient clues, can even an expert like Mark keep Ellie alive?

Christy Barritt does a masterful job of ratcheting up the suspense, both the danger and the romantic tension, as she guides the story through the twists and turns of a four-dimensional maze that leaves the reader guessing until the very end. In keeping with the romantic-suspense genre, the thriller-level action takes place mostly off stage. But there is plenty on stage to keep the reader turning the pages or pressing the forward button on their e-reader.
If you enjoy romantic suspense, you are sure to like Christy Barritt's latest release, Key Witness. If you like Key Witness, there are more stories to come in The Security Experts series.

Full Disclosure

Full Disclosure - Dee Henderson For writing, I would give this 5 stars. But the story moved a little too slowly, with most of the action happening off-stage. A lot of people will like their romantic suspense the way Dee Henderson has provided it. My preference is for a little more action and a faster moving story.

The Stars Shine Bright

The Stars Shine Bright - Sibella Giorello This is a great story and it is well written. Readers who like their stories to unfold slowly with a lot of character development will like this one. If you liked the author's other Raleigh Harmon novels, then you will enjoy this one.

Heart of Ice

Heart of Ice - Lis Wiehl, April Henry In Heart of Ice, Lis Wiehl has woven a complex suspense story using 3 women protagonists and an antagonist, Elizabeth, with a heart of ice. Though the story supports a Christian worldview, it will be an entertaining read for anyone who likes suspense. There is violence and it pushes the envelope for some CBA publishers, but it is not overly graphic.

Lonestar Sanctuary

Lonestar Sanctuary - Colleen Coble A good book for those who like romantic suspense. If you like a lot of action, you might be a bit disappointed as there are long lulls between storms.

The Darwin Conspiracy: The Confessions of Sir Max Busby: A Novel

The Darwin Conspiracy: The Confessions of Sir Max Busby: A Novel - James Scott Bell Great idea for a book. Imagine The Screwtape Letters combined with Michael Behe's Darwin's Black Box. It's witty, interesting, and even informative. This book has a permanent home on my bookshelf.
